Short answer
A business cannot directly delete a customer's Google review. It can report a review that may violate Google Maps policies and, in eligible cases, appeal Google's initial decision.
For businesses, the most useful way to think about this question is through Google's published policies and the economics of the review profile—not promises or shortcuts.
Important: A negative review is not removable simply because a business believes it is unfair. Google removes content when it violates applicable policy, and Google makes the final decision.
What a business can control
A business can document the review, choose the most relevant policy reason, report it, monitor the status, appeal when eligible, and respond publicly. It cannot directly edit or delete another user's review.
Negative does not mean removable
Google allows customers to describe negative experiences. A review may be harsh, mistaken, or one-sided and still remain within policy. Removal should focus on specific policy grounds, not disagreement.
Examples that deserve closer evaluation
Potential concerns include a reviewer who never had a genuine experience, a current or former employee, an industry competitor, coordinated duplicate content, harassment, personal information, or a review about the wrong business or location.
Build a clean record
Keep screenshots and internal records showing why the review may not match a genuine experience. Do not publish sensitive evidence in your public response.
